When editing with a layered editor the move tool is used to move and position layers. With the move tool you can move individual visual elements around in the image canvas and position them relative to each other.
This makes the move tool essential when compositing images. When working with separate layers and their associated visual elements you need to position them to get the final image you desire.
To move a layer make sure it is selected in the layers panel then simply click anywhere in the editor workspace and drag to move the layer to where you want it.
The move tool is also used to move selections. Clicking and dragging inside a selection moves the selected area in the layer. If you click outside the layer is moved instead. Upload an image from your computer to begin editing with the move tool.
