What is an animated GIF?
A GIF, short for Graphics Interchange Format, is a versatile bitmap file capable of displaying still images or animations. GIF files that show animations are regularly called "animated GIFs" to differentiate them from GIFs that display a still image, but in principle they are no different from a GIF that displays a still image.
An animated GIF automatically loops through a sequence of images, displaying them one after another at a set delay or display time. This is very similar to what happens in a movie or cartoon. The delay time to show the next image in the sequence determines the frame rate (fps) of the animation. The shorter the delay time, the higher the frame rate and consequently the smoother or quicker the animation.
Though GIF files do not contain sound, they are widely used because they are simple image files that can display short motion clips. As they are basically image files, GIFs can be easily shared or embedded in a web page just like a JPEG, PNG or Bitmap.

The lower delay, the faster frame rate and the smoother and quicker the animation will be. You can set the frame rate for all frames using the global frame rate input. You can also set the delay for individual frames using the delay input at the bottom of each frame in the timeline.
